The Touring Body Arrives

At last after months of restoration the refurbished touring body arrives from Ely, Iowa. The body was restored by Jerry Sweet and the upholstery was crafted by his wife Joan. Jerry has been restoring Model Ts for over 30 years and so has honed his craft well. His first restoration was also a 1924 Ford Model T Touring car.

Though you cannot see it yet we had several discussion about mounting the side kerosene lamps. They were not standard in an electric start car of this vintage. But Jerry said he had them on his car as they were an option that could be ordered from the dealer.

I liked the look so Jerry added the mounting brackets so I could add the lamps.

The body wood is all original except the tacking strips which we replaced due to rot. We also replaced the windshield glass with tempered safety glass. Outside of that everything is original.
