CHASSIS - Cont'd

We just installed a new gas tank to insure that we would have clean fuel. The fittings on the gas sediment bowl had eroded badly. Rather than chance a leak, or worse a break, we elected to replace this part and the petcock with a reproduction.

The center photo shows the new gas line and the reproduction sediment bowl under the fuel tank. The gas line has now been attached to the carburetor.

A new exhaust system has been installed. In order to disassemble the car is was necessary to cut the exhaust pipe. We decided to replace the entire system with a new one as it was in such poor shape. We stuck to the stock muffler.

The exhaust is expelled through a slot at the end of the muffler. Poor engineering design as this is unfortunately located right at the end of the body which can stain the surface. There is a muffler available with an exhaust pipe extension. But we wanted to do our best to keep the original stock configuration. It just means a little more 'elbow grease' from time to time.

The splash panels and running boards are now in place.

At this stage we must install  the spare tire carrier. Once this and the wire standoffs are installed  we can remount the body and bolt it down once and for all.

We added a new gas line and sediment bowl. Also you can see the new exhaust system.

The chassis is a bit dusty, but it highlights the new muffler and battery box we just installed.
